Piano Note

Through piano lessons, Lydia strives to encourage students to become creative, fulfilled, and dedicated individuals in music as well as in the many various aspects of their lives.

"Both my 6 year old son and I take lessons with Lydia.  She is absolutely wonderful!  Her musical knowledge is great, but what really makes her stand out is her patient and gentle nature."     - Erin C.

"My children, ages 14, 11 and 9, enjoy taking lessons with Lydia. This is our second year of lessons with her. She’s patient, kind and gears lessons toward their interests to make it fun but still challenging."     - Jenny B.

Essential elements of lessons with Lydia include:

  • development of the musical ear and creativity of the student through rote pieces and lively improvisations

  • illustrations, analogies, and a hands on approach to aid in forming good technique

  • sight-reading and rhythm exercises to help the student to become a proficient reader

  • interesting, exciting, and foundational pieces

  • and more!

Lydia approaches lessons with a growth mindset that provides for a healthy environment in weekly, one-on-one instruction.  She has taught students from as young as four years old through those in their senior years, so lessons are always designed to be fun and age-appropriate.

"Lydia beautifully combines skill and enthusiasm to make a thriving learning environment.  Her willingness to adapt to my children's interests and personalities is so appreciated.  She provides a strong foundation and love for learning piano!"    - Allison P.
